News for Bakuretsu Con 2009:

Bakuretsu Con announces first round of guests

Bakuretsu Con is pleased to announce that voice actor/artist Sonny Strait and artist Svetlana Chmakova will be guests at this year's convention.

Sonny Strait is most noted as the voice of Dragonball Z's Krillin, Full Metal Alchemist's Maes Hughes and as a comic book artist on the series Elfquest. He has also worked as a writer and director for many favored anime productions including Dragonball, Lupin III, Case Closed, Kodacha and Kiddy Grade. Currently he portrays Usopp on Funimation's One Piece.

Sonny's graphic novel We Shadows (published by Tokyopop) was nominated for the 2008 American Library Association Award for Best Graphic Novel. You can also find more of his creative ventures on www.carbombscomic.com and www.myspace.com/whitegirlfun

Svetlana was born and raised Russian, and came to Canada at the tender age of 16. She finished high school here, then graduated Sheridan College with a three-year Classical Animation Diploma and is currently a freelance artist, as well as a fledgling North-American equivalent of a manga-ka. She has been in a love-hate relationship with comics and manga for several years now because she is too weak to break it off.

Svetlana has drawn for how-to-draw-manga books, RPG manuals, toy designs, animation, book covers and a bunch of online comics. She is an accomplished flake and has no attention span, which makes writing coherent bios quite a challenge.
Hobbies include: sleeping and reading more comics than is healthy for her wallet. Also, sometimes, eating.

Some of Svetlana's works include Dramacon, Nightschool, and Chasing Rainbows.

Bakurestu Con is also pleased that web comic artist Michael "Mookie" Terracciano of Dominque Degan: Oracle for Hire, and the steampunk cosplay group the Penny Dreadfuls will be joining us once again. Please read more about all of our guests at www.bakuretsucon.org.
