FanCons.com Policy on Listed Events
To be eligible for listing on FanCons.com, all events must meet the following criteria:
- Web Site Requirement
All events must have an actual web site. Pages created on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, YouTube, etc.), event calendars, or ticketing sites (Eventbrite, Eventeny, Tabletop.events, etc.) are not sufficient on their own. While these platforms can be used for promotion or sales, an independent web site is required for your event to be listed. - Event Duration
Events must be at least 6 hours in length to be listed. Events with less than 6 hours of programming will not be listed. - Verified Information
We will only list events for which we can verify key details on the official web site. This includes guest lists, registration rates, and anti-harassment policies. - Confirmed Venue and Dates
Only events with a confirmed, publicly announced venue and dates will be listed. Events lacking a specified venue or confirmed dates will not be listed. - No Login-Required Information
We do not list events that require a login or account to access key information, such as guest lists, registration details, or a secret venue. - Multiple Venues in One City
Events that take place across multiple venues within a city or town will not be listed unless at least 6 hours of programming occurs at a single venue and the venues are located less than a mile apart. For example, three venues with 4 hours of programming each will not qualify, nor will events spread across an entire city with multiple venues. If your event is spread across the entire city at five different venues, we cannot list that event. However, events at neighboring venues (e.g., a convention center and a hotel across the street) are acceptable. - Conventions Within Conventions
We do not list sub-events or "conventions within conventions". Only the main convention will be listed, provided it meets all of our requirements. - Multiple Event Names or Shared Admission
If multiple events share the same venue and dates, and offer shared admission (e.g., multiple conventions under different names at the same location), we will list the event only once under the main name. We will not list them as separate events. - Virtual Conventions
We do not list virtual-only or online conventions. If an in-person event transitions to a virtual format, we will mark the event as "Went Online-Only", with the event name and/or datesstruck through. - Non-Convention Events
We do not list the following types of events:- Art shows
- Club meetings
- Collectible shows, swap meets, or flea markets
- Concerts, music festivals, bar crawls, or karaoke contests
- Cosplay or costume gatherings
- Film screenings and festivals
- Trading card game tournaments
- Video game tournaments
NOTE: Starting in 2025, we will be stricter in enforcing these guidelines, and some events previously listed may no longer qualify. - Site Discretion
The site staff reserve the right to refuse to list any event for any reason, including, but not limited to:- Not fitting the scope of this site
- A history of cancelled events
- Unrealistic claims or misleading information
- Promotion of illegal, discriminatory, or harmful content
- The event's organizer having a history of criminal activity, including accusations of child endangerment or sexual assault
- False or Misleading Information
Any attempt to submit false or misleading information in order to bypass our policies may result in the event being banned from the site. Repeat offenders may have all their future events banned.
This policy is subject to change at any time without prior notice.
