News for Anime Boston 2008:

J-rock sensation the pillows to appear at Anime Boston

International stars set to arrive at the Northeast's largest anime convention

Boston, MA -- Anime Boston, the Northeast's largest Japanese animation convention and among the top ten largest conventions in North America, announced that international stars the pillows will perform this year in the Hynes Convention Center on March 22.

The Hokkaido, Japan native band will deliver its pop-punk music and riffs to the grateful attendees of Anime Boston. The three-person outfit, led by lead singer Sawao Yamanaka, also features lead guitarist Yoshiaki Manabe and drummer Shinichirou Sato.

As a repeat performer at SXSW Austin, the pillows have created a name for themselves in the United States. The band was named a showcase performer at SXSW 2005 and has played at popular venues such as the Knitting Factory in New York City and Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood.

The pillows are best known for "Ride on Shooting Star", which was highlight in the popular animated series "FLCL."

The group is expected to play songs from "FLCL" and its latest album "Wake Up!, Wake Up!, Wake Up!", their first record on the Avex Trax label.
