News for Nan Desu Kan 2011:
Nan Desu Kan announces Rave2Save for Japanese disaster relief
Donations will be matched dollar for dollarDENVER--Nan Desu Kan, the largest convention in the Rocky Mountain region, is sponsoring a one-night-only event to benefit the Japanese Red Cross. The all-ages Rave2Save Japan will be held Saturday, April 30, 2011 from 8 p.m. at the Marriott Denver Tech Center in Denver, Colo.
A minimum $10 cash donation is required for entry. All money raised will be matched dollar for dollar by the Rocky Mountain Anime Association (RMAA), the parent nonprofit organization of Nan Desu Kan.
"We know that some of our attendees have limited resources, and they might not feel like they'll be able to help on their own," said Amanda Liebermann, executive director of RMAA. "By pooling everyone's donations and then matching them, we'll help our attendees make a significant difference for Japan relief, and have fun at the same time."
Rave2Save Japan will also feature DJ Bullock, a silent auction and traditional Japanese games kingyo-sukui (goldfish-scooping) and wanage (ring toss).
"Our goal is to help Japan however we can, while it's still fresh in everyone's minds," said Liebermann.
Attendees are welcome to cosplay. Hotel rooms begin at the special rate of $69, and parking is free. The Marriott Denver Tech Center donated the Evergreen Ballroom for this event.
