Ryuzou Ishino
Actor
Japan
Biography:
Ishino-san is a Japanese theater actor, teacher, and seiyuu (voiceover artist) who specializes in theater performance inspired by the Japanese single-actor storytelling art known as "rakugo". He is the founder of a form of acting called Katari Shibai, and his voice work can be enjoyed in the original Japanese versions of many video games and anime series, with his most notable roles including those of Chang Wufei from Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and Chousokabe Motochika from Sengoku Basara.
Ryuzou Ishino was born in Tokyo and began singing and playing the guitar at the age of 13. In high school, he studied music in hopes of one day becoming a vocalist. Over time, however, he grew frustrated with the direction of his music studies, so he changed course and enrolled in college to become a researcher.
While attending college, he began training in voice acting which naturally involved theater studies. Captivated by the world of theater, he decided to make another alteration to his career path, this time toward becoming an actor.
At the age of 25, he debuted as a theater actor and seiyuu (voiceover artist), and in April 2012 he founded Katari Shibai - a form of acting or storytelling where one person does both narration and acting - inspired by the Japanese single-actor storytelling art known as "rakugo". His voice work can be enjoyed in the original Japanese versions of many video games and anime series, with his most notable roles including those of Chang Wufei from Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and Chousokabe Motochika from Sengoku Basara.
