Biography:
Since his first work as a director The Brave Express Might Gaine, Shinji Takamatsu has spent over thirty years making anime, cutting his teeth on the giant robot shows of the 1980s and 1990s and continuing to work on a stunning range of fan-favorite shows through the present day. His impressive list of credits, mostly as director and/or storyboard artist, begins with Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and continues through most other Gundam shows until 1996.
For the last decade, Takamatsu has helmed hits like School Rumble and Gintama -- including Gintama the Movie, for which he won the Prugio Citizen's Choice Award at the Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival.
Recently, Takamatsu directed Daily Lives of High School Boys and Ixion Saga DT and most recent work is Cute High Earth Defense Club LOVE!, an affectionate pastiche of magical girl shows -- but featuring a group of magical boys, a mostly-dead teacher, and a pink wombat.
