Yasuaki Iwase

Biography:
Yasuaki Iwase was born in Miyagi, Japan, in October 1945. He began working at the highly acclaimed animation studio MADHOUSE in 1974.
For decades, Iwase has worked with Maruyama as his administrative partner in creating the foundation of modern Japanese animation. Iwase has produced critically-acclaimed projects such as Manga World Fairytale, Adventures of Marco Polo, Tomorrow's Joe 2, Harmageddon: The Great Battles with Genma, Dagger Of Kamui, Azukichan, Card Captor Sakura and Barefoot Gen.
Eventually, Iwase assumed administrative leadership of MADHOUSE, Inc. as executive officer until June 2014. In 2013, Iwase joined with Maruyama to run his newly-founded studio, MAPPA, Inc.
