News for MatsuriCon 2006:

MatsuriCon forced to change hotels

Cheaper rate. No changes in programs, dates or guests.

MatsuriCon will be changing hotels from the Radisson Worthington to the Comfort Inn Conference Center Columbus North for their convention taking place next month from April 20th-23rd.

"The last 48 hours has been a tough time for all of us," stated Mike Beargie, Chairman of External Affairs, "It's the call that no convention wants to get, the decision that no chairman wants to make, but we got that call, we made that decision, and we're going to use those lemons to make the best darn proverbial lemonade that we can!"

A computer glitch in the Radisson's computer and miscommunication in their sales department caused them to double book all of MatsuriCon's meeting spaces and hotel rooms. "As a solution, they offered to move us to their sister hotel, the Comfort Inn, and provide us with many discounts for our attendees, staff and guests. The new hotel is only a short five minute drive away." said Beargie.

Beargie noted that while the meeting space is a few square feet smaller, MatsuriCon will still be offering the same amount of programming throughout the four day event. "With some elbow grease and a lot of creative finagling, we'll make this work, and make sure that everyone has a great time".

Attendees that have reserved hotel rooms at the Radisson will not have to cancel and re-book; all of the reservations from MatsuriCon's block will automatically be transferred to the Comfort Inn. Attendees with hotel rooms from the Radisson are encouraged to call the Comfort Inn to confirm their reservation. The Comfort Inn will offer free WiFi Internet access, free continental breakfast and newspapers, and MatsuriCon has worked with the Comfort Inn to discount the convention rate to $74.99, $15 off the old hotel price.

The Comfort Inn will have MatsuriCon's new block ready on Friday, March 31st. The reservations line can be reached by calling (614) 885-4084. Pre-Registration will also be closing on April 5th, 2006, so be sure to send in your payments and reserve your hotel rooms soon, there are only a limited amount of rooms left!

MatsuriCon will take place on April 20th-23rd 2006 in Columbus, Ohio. Although a new event, MatsuriCon draws on the expertise of some of the most veteran staffers from the Midwest and East Coast areas. Revolving around the fusion of Traditional and Modern Japanese Culture, MatsuriCon will bring a new hybrid of education and entertainment to the Midwest fan community. Thursday afternoon and evening will be entirely free to all as a "public preview day."

MatsuriCorp is a non-profit group, recognized by the State of Ohio, which produces MatsuriCon. It is the intention of MatsuriCorp to educate the public community in Japanese Culture both old and new, through the hard work of our volunteer staff.
